A measured sample, not a camera average.

This sample is labeled normal RAW, full frame. It should not stand in for C-RAW, cropped captures or Dual Pixel RAW. Keep the compression mode consistent when checking your own recent photographs.

Plan a year of photographs.

RAW uses this sample’s exact byte count. JPEG assumes 8 MB per photograph for planning; replace that estimate in the calculator with your own file size. All values below are decimal GB, before backup copies.

Questions about this sample

Does this example use C-RAW?

No. The source labels it normal RAW, full frame. Its measured size applies to this file, not to C-RAW or Dual Pixel RAW.

Can I use this size for cropped R6 Mark II files?

Treat it as a full-frame reference. For cropped captures, replace the RAW size with a measurement from the same mode you actually use.

What does the Canon JPEG side show?

It shows the embedded camera preview from this CR3 file. It is not an independently saved full-resolution JPEG. The right side is a developed RAW export; both processing paths are disclosed in our method.

RAW size comes from one measured sample. JPEG defaults to an editable 8 MB estimate, not the embedded preview size.
